What kind of Chinese Mahjong is this?
“Chinese Mahjong” describes a family of regional and tournament rules, not one universal scoring system. immahjong keeps those boundaries visible.
- Beginner play uses 136 tiles: three suits, four Winds, and three Dragons.
- The core hand is four melds and one pair, with supported special hands labeled separately.
- Turns use draw and discard; eligible calls include Chi, Pong, Kong, and Hu.

Can I play Chinese Mahjong online for free?
Yes. immahjong's Chinese beginner lessons, bot practice, calculators, and classic private rooms are free during the Beta. Practice runs in a supported web browser without a download.
Is this real Mahjong or Mahjong Solitaire?
It is four-player draw-and-discard Mahjong. You build melds and a pair, claim eligible discards, and compete to complete a hand. It is not the single-player tile-matching puzzle commonly called Mahjong Solitaire.
Do I need to know Chinese?
No. The traditional tile faces stay visible, while actions, tile labels, lessons, tips, and result explanations are available in clear English.
Can a complete beginner start with the bots?
Yes. Choose Beginner pace, keep contextual tips on, and play one supported hand at a time. Invalid actions are prevented by the same rules engine used throughout practice.
