Questions before your first hand?

Is this American Mahjong?+

The main online table teaches Chinese Mahjong: a 136-tile, four-player draw-and-discard game. American Mahjong is available separately as a learning Beta and calculator, with its own rules kept separate from Chinese play.

Do I need to know Chinese?+

No. immahjong is English-first. Tile names, actions, tutorials, settings, and results are written in plain English, with optional labels and screen-reader text for every tile.

Which Mahjong rules are used?+

The beginner table uses a simplified Chinese Mahjong ruleset: draw, discard, Chi, Pong, Kong, and Hu, with a standard winning hand of four melds and one pair. Regional, household, Chinese Official, and American Mahjong rules can differ.

Can I play with friends?+

Yes. Create a private room, share the room code or invitation link, and start a four-player table. Empty seats can be filled with bots so a game can begin even when fewer than four people are online.

Can I practice by myself?+

Yes. Practice mode lets you play against rule-following bots, choose the pace, turn contextual tips on or off, and replay lessons until the flow of a hand feels natural.

Is the game free?+

Yes. The playable Beta is free. Lessons, practice, calculators, and classic private rooms do not require payment. Membership and Gold Tables are marked as coming soon and are not needed to learn or play.

Does it involve real-money gambling?+

No. immahjong does not support wagering, cash prizes, cryptocurrency, or coins with cash value. It is built for learning, practice, and social play.

Will my account sync across devices?+

Basic account and profile features exist, but some tutorial progress and preferences are still device-local during Beta. Cross-device sync will continue improving as the platform matures.
